Dating apps expose lovebirds to scammers and hackers

Finding love ahead of the smartphone period usually entailed an endless procession of bad dates, missed connections, and lots of serendipity. Today, finding relationship — or at the very least a Valentine's Day date — is simply a swipe and a faucet away.

Regrettably, therefore too are frauds and cheats which use mobile relationship apps to hoodwink the lovelorn.

Dating apps first caught fire with young adults on university campuses, stated Wired's Issie Lapowsky, because "you could simply take it to you, maybe not unlike Instagram and all sorts of these apps we are dependent on, individuals began scrolling and scrolling plus it became a very simple solution to fulfill individuals."
